I am very excited to have your child in my class this year. I am beginning my 38th year in education. Throughout my journey I have worked in elementary and high school, which has allowed me to see where they are coming from and where they will need to be. This year is a transition year for students who will be preparing for middle school next year. You will find they will be expected to become more independent as the year goes by. You will find I don’t give much homework and when I do it will mostly be for study purposes, however it is very important for you to review at home what we went over that day in class, especially in math. Bible will be different this year, students will be expected to test every other week on the unit matterials and weekly on the Bible verses. They will have daily assignments that go along with the lesson and will be expected to complete these for a grade. Their grades in Bible will come from a combination of tests and classwork, with each part counting 50 percent. I hope this will be a great year for us all!
Grading Scales:
Bible:
50% classwork
50% test ( one on content and two Bible verse tests)
Math:
40% classwork and quizzes
10% homework
50% tests
History:
40% classwork and quizzes
10% homework
50% tests and projects (rubrics for projects will be provided when assigned)
A list of all materials for class can be found on the website. Please have all materials on the first day of class. We will be setting up notebooks at this time. Composition books must be 8 ½ X 11 inch – the 5 star 5 subject notebook, college ruled meets this requirement. I will have these available for you to purchase from me if needed.
