Our behavior plan in Fifth Grade has a dual objective. In addition to teaching appropriate behavior and responsibility, students will be learning several economic life skills.
Each child will earn “money”, pay taxes on that money, and spend that money for goods and services. They will also have an accounting ledger where they will keep up with their current financial situation, and a pouch for their money.
This money will be earned by appropriate behavior in the classroom, hallway, or other classes; responsibilities such as returning folder and homework, and grades on tests. Consequently, the money can be lost by inappropriate behavior, lack of responsibility, and by paying for goods and services.
We want you to be aware of this new adventure. If your students comes home and says that he/she didn’t have enough money for something, you will be ready to support learning by asking about what their responsibility was, and what they have done with their money.
It is our desire to teach the students a lifelong biblical skill of hard work and reward while ensuring an environment that is conducive to learning.
