5th Grade Summer Reading

Things to remember:

  • Please bring your book summaries on the first day of school
  • Don’t wait until the last minute to start reading. Rushed work is never excellent! It also takes the joy out of reading.
  • Make sure you use neat handwriting or type it.
  • Be prepared to share what you have written with the class.
  • Visit the library often!

Required reading:
1) My Side of the Mountain (Jean C. George)
2)Socks (Beverly Cleary)
3)Any other book on the list

For each of the three books that you read this summer, please include the following
information:

  • Title of Book / Author of Book
  • Number of Pages
  • Setting-When and where the book takes place?
  • What was your favorite part of the story? (2 sentences)
  • Give the name of the main character and tell something about that person.
  • Did you like the book? Why or Why not? ( 2sentences)
  • Summaries should be no more than half a page long. But include the beginning, middle, and end of the story.
